Carbon Capture
Background
Carbon capture is a process used to capture and store carbon dioxide emissions from power plants and other industrial facilities. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a technology that can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from coal- and gas-fired power plants. CCS involves capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) from power plant flue gas or industrial processes, transporting it to a storage site, and injecting it deep underground, where it will not enter the atmosphere.
Some of the emerging trends in carbon capture include the use of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) for carbon dioxide (CO2) capture, the use of nanoporous materials for CO2 capture, and the use of porous organic polymers (POPs) for CO2 capture.
